NJCDCA NEWS-COACHES LETTER:
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the coaches and teams who have participated in the NJCDCA Cheerleading State Championships for the past 16 years. All areas of the competition were reviewed and recommendations were made and presented before the Competition Advisory Board meeting for a final vote. We appreciate your input as we continually strive to make this event worthy of our New Jersey Cheerleaders.

THE COMPETITION:

The Competition will be held at Sovereign Bank Arena, Trenton, NJ on Sunday, March 2, 2008. The competition will start at 9:30 am. |
|
To allow us to prepare for warm-up and performance time registrations will not be accepted after the postmarked date of January 25, 2008. No exceptions. |
|

Schools will have the option to choose between a SPRING FLOOR and a standard Cheerleading Floor (Both 54 x42) |
|
Due to liability issues the use of designated spotters is not an option. |
|
Alternate judging will be used for all divisions. There will be a separate panel judging the Group Champions so that squads do not have to perform in a second round. |
|
The warm-up time will be 3 minutes for both the tumbling mat and performance mat. This should eliminate a back-up in the warm-up area. |
|
Performance times will be posted online after the mandatory coaches meetings. |
|
NJCCA will be selling t-shirts on a pre order basis only. There will be a limited number of t-shirts available the day of the competition. This will eliminate the expense of leftover shirts and to make sure all cheerleaders can get their correct size. |
|
The winning coaches will be given the opportunity to purchase a championship ring however the NJCCA will not be supplying them. |

We encourage any and all coaches to submit the names of qualified judges to Pat DePalma for consideration to judge our State Championship. |
ENTRY FEES:
First member team is $150
All subsequent AND non member teams are $200
DEADLINES AND LATE FEES:

Any application postmarked after January 10, 2008 will be charged a late fee of $100 per team.
APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER JANUARY 25, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS.
ALL FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. NO FEES OR FORMS WILL BE COLLECTED THE DAY OF THE COMPETITION. ALL COACHES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING ALL FORMS. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE MADE TO INFORM YOU OF MISSING ITEMS.
INSURANCE CERTIFICATES:
Each team must mail with their application a certificate of insurance naming the NJCDCA and Jackson Liberty and/or Sovereign Bank Arena as the additional insured. If you fail to do so, you will not be able to participate. NO CERTIFICATES WILL BE ACCEPTED the day of competition and verbal authorization is not acceptable.
LIABILITY RELEASE FORMS:
All participants must submit the enclosed liability release form before they are permitted to compete. It is the responsibility of the coach to copy one for each participant and submit them along with the entry packet.
TIME LIMITS:
- CHEER/DANCE - 2 ½ minutes maximum. Music must not exceed 1½ minutes
- ALL MUSIC DIVISION - 2 ½ minutes maximum all music
- A 5-point penalty will be assessed for any overtime.
RULES AND PENALTIES:
- Coaches will not be permitted to speak to the safety judges before their performance time
- All safety questions must be sent to Pat DePalma at least one week before the competition
- 25 member maximum per team except for all-girl varsity divisions
- National Federation Interscholastic Spirit Association rules and regulations, including the 2007-2008 revisions, with the exception of the use of a spring floor, will be strictly enforced. A 5 point penalty will be deducted for each infraction including stepping off the mat and exceeding the time limit. www.nfhs.org
- Alternate team members and coaches sitting on the competition floor may not say the words with the team
AWARDS:
- Team trophies awarded will be contingent upon the number of entries in each division.
- The entire varsity division will be ranked according to their respective state group for the state championship title
- Banners will be awarded to division and group champions in the varsity division only
MANDATORY COACHES MEETING:
A mandatory coaches meeting will take place at Bishop Ahr High School (Directions) on Thursday, February 7, 2008 and Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 6:30 pm. At this meeting coaches will receive their packets of information including their warm-up and performance times.
Tickets will be available as well. DIVISIONS CANNOT BE CHANGED ONCE THE MEETING TAKES PLACE. Each team must have at least one coach attend either of the meetings. You only need to attend one meeting.
We suggest that you have a backup/contingency plan because IF ANY TEAM DOES NOT HAVE A COACH OR A REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE TEAM PRESENT (NO STUDENTS ALLOWED) YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO COMPETE. NO EXCEPTIONS! IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER COACH/REPRESENTATIVE PICK UP YOUR PACKET YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL INFORMATION PRESENTED AT THIS MEETING.
We request that you hold your questions until the meeting so that everyone receives the same information.

SCHEDULED START TIMES:
- Doors will open at 8:00 am.
- Varsity Cheer and Music Divisions will begin at 9:00 am.
- All Star Divisions will follow the High School session.
ADMISSION:
- Wristbands will be distributed to participants and coaches only.
- Only team members and coaches with wristbands will be free.
- Only 2 coaches and the maximum number of team members allowed in each division will be admitted free with wristbands.
- Admissions are $15 per person.
OTHER INFORMATION:
- Score sheets will be available immediately after the competition.
- Concessions will be available.
- No food or drink is to be brought into the SBA.
- The NJCDCA or The SBA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Every team performance will be Digitally Recorded at the competition on high quality DVDs by Digital Cheer from the judges view. These official Judges Review DVDs may be purchased at the event and picked up minutes after each team performs to take home the same day.
Full session, and division DVDs are available and may be ordered for direct shipment to your home.
Digital Cheer also provides our trademark "Cheer Again tm" service to NJCDCA at this event. Each performance is shown seconds after completion on a large screen positioned for coaches and team members viewing. Coaches report that this immediate replay capability is a valuable training and feedback tool.
